<image:title>Blog - Demographics of attractiveness subreddits - Posters who said they were female received, on average, far more comments than males. With the subreddit (and Reddit overall) being more male, this might not come as a surprise, as users may be inclined to rate the opposite sex. The disparity in comments was slightly less drastic on r/AmIUgly; it’s possible that people are more sympathetic there due to the almost pleading nature of the subreddit’s prompting question. Or perhaps males are more willing to answer the question “am I ugly” than they are to rate the same gender.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Demographics of attractiveness subreddits - They’re young. The average ages of r/rateme and r/amiugly posters were 22.2 and 20.6 years old, respectively. On both subreddits, over 90% of posts came from those under the age of 30. By far, the most common stated age on r/Rateme was 18, indicating that younger teens likely lie to meet the minimum.</image:title>
